🇺🇸 LEARNING THROUGH HISTORY 🇺🇸

For their Article of the Week, Mrs. Megen’s 6th graders took a deeper look at the events of September 11, 2001.

Students read firsthand accounts and articles about 9/11 and watched interviews with survivors to understand better the experiences of those who lived through that day and the lasting impact it had on their lives.

Today, students took their learning one step further by considering difficult scenarios based on the events of that day. They were challenged to think about questions such as: How would you have responded? What choices would you have made?

Working in groups, students practiced communication, critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making as they discussed ways people could respond and help others during an emergency.

This lesson was about more than reading an article. It allowed our students to work together, think critically, and reflect on an important moment in history that forever changed our country.

🇺🇸 We remember. We reflect. We learn. 🇺🇸

OCMS REMEMBERS 9/11

This morning, Obion County Middle School took time to pause, remember, and honor those whose lives were forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

During our morning announcements, Mr. Suiter, OCMS principal, shared a few words about the significance of September 11. Mr. Pounds, OCMS band teacher, then played “Taps” as our students and staff observed a moment of silence.

Following the remembrance, we joined together for our daily Pledge of Allegiance. 🇺🇸

Today, we remember the lives lost, honor the heroes and first responders, and reflect on the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown by Americans on September 11, 2001, and in the days that followed.

We will never forget. ❤️🤍💙
